Where Do I Hang My Hammock Chair?

When deciding on where to hang your hammock chair, some things to consider are finding a solid object to attach the rope to, and to find a peaceful, quiet, and serene location. The last thing that you want while trying to relax and read a book or nap is to be disturbed by hordes or rambunctious kids, or worse yet, automobile and truck traffic. Take a look around your house….
  • Sturdy tree branches
  • A porch or ceiling beam
  • A solid arbour main post (minimum 4×4)
If you don’t have any of those options, don’t worry! You’re not completely out of luck. You can still purchase hammock chair stands. These are great because you can put your hammock chair anywhere you want. They can be used indoors or outdoors, and they can be easily moved. Hammock Chair Hanging HooksNow that you’ve chosen a solid, sturdy object to hang your hammock swing, the next thing that you’ll need is your hanging kit and your screwdriver. If you don’t have a hammock hanging kit, don’t worry, this is ours and it’s the one that we recommend.

How to Hang a Hammock Chair Using a Screwdriver or a Drill

  • Step 1: Place the hook mount into position. Mark the holes with a pencil.
  • Step 2 (optional): If you have a drill, drill the appropriate sized pilot holes (based on screw size) into a strong overhead beam where you marked in step 1.
  • Step 3: Use your screwdriver or cordless drill to screw the screws into the sturdy object.
  • Step 4: If you have a spring and swivel hook, we recommend using them. If you don’t have any, don’t worry! You only need a carabiner or S-hook large enough to hook into the hammock eye. Connect the spring into the hook mount. Attach the swivel mount to the spring. Then hook the carabiner to the swivel hook.
  • Step 5: Attach the carabiner to the hammock eye.

How to Hang a Hammock chair Without Tools!

If you don’t have access to a screwdriver or power drill, follow these steps to secure hang your hammock chair.
  • Step 1: Find a sturdy, free standing beam such as a strong tree branch, ceiling beam, or a solid arbour frame.
  • Step 2: Wrap rope around the beam or branch to secure the hammock chair either by looping the rope through the hammock eye and tying a knot, or using a carabiner attached to the rope and hammock. For safety we recommend using a rope that is rated to hold at least 1000lbs.

Test Before You Rest

Before kicking back in your hammock, test all the ropes and fittings by tugging on them with your full weight. If that feels secure, test the installation by first SLOWLY lowering yourself into the hammock chair, with your feet solidly on the ground to ensure that all is secure and solid. Only then should you lift your feet off the ground.
